I write about power + pop culture.

I edit the mental health journal, Doll Hospital. Sometimes I write about things for magazines and make art. This is a small selection of my work.

Suicide in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, Doll Hospital Journal

Playing with a pet is not enough, and perhaps you don't own a pet. Or I don't. I don't know. Taking a walk is not right either. I don't have a lawn to trim, and if I do, I do not care to. Suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem. But if executed properly it can be a short term solution to a long term problem. That makes no sense, but stay with me. What depression needs is a little death (a little suicide).

Editor's Letter: Issue One of Doll Hospital Journal

Heroines: An Interview with Kate Zambreno

Kate Zambreno is the author of a bunch of smart stuff including the novels Green Girl (Harper Perennial) and O Fallen Angel (Chiasmus Press), and the experimental non-fiction books ‘Heroines’ (Semiotext(e)’s Active Agents/ MIT Press) and The Book of Mutter (Wesleyan University Press, October 2015). As a professional rejection letter receiver, and mentally ill muse for creepy boys the word over, I thought it would be cool to have a chat with Kate about these weird tropes in writing. Because it can be confusing to be an author if you’re already a character y’kno?

In Conversation with The Coven

We started The Coven around July 2012. We were inspired by the flickr generation of young photographers who used the internet to kickstart their careers and wanted to create a space like that for feminist artists who worked in mediums other than photography. As a young curator and artist I want- ed to promote up and coming artists whose work I loved and find a way to get our names out there and start collaborating.
